So...today was the first day of high school. Ok, so it was freshman orientation, but whatever...
I wrote a poem this morning about my feelings kinda.

Freshman
Lying on one's bed, trying to understand
Today's the first day at High School
Counting the minutes to when one must leave
All dressed and waiting for the clock to strike
Not sure what one's exactly feeling
Excited, scared, nervous and content all at once
All adrenaline and no mind left;
One's mind going a million miles a minute
Snapping one's cell phone open and closed
Today's the first day at High School
It's hard to believe how fast it came
Middle school ended two months ago
Not sure what one's exactly feeling
Disdain and pride for the life left behind
Apprehension for the life starting today
One's iPod at full blast yet not hearing the words
Trying to dispel the lump in one's throat
Today's the first day at High School
Not yet missing summer
But not ready for autumn
Not sure what one's exactly feeling
Yearning the free time and lazy days past
Yet anxious to meet new people and old friends
One's staring at the sunrise with melancholy
Fidgeting fretfully with one's clothes
Today's the first day at High School
Is this shirt too nice to wear today?
Should I wear sneakers or flip-flops?
Not sure what one's exactly feeling
Will this shirt make me look different?
But then, do I want to look different?
One's unease is shown clearly in indecision
But then with one's smile all fear vanishes away
Today's the first day at High School
Must accept things as they come
Don't worry all quite yet
Knowing better what one's feeling
This day comes once in a lifetime
Once, once, and only once
One may as well make the best of it.
