Please read all of the below and follow all the rules!
Consequences are posted here.
1. Don't be cruel to the other members. They're here to have a positive experience. Constructive criticism is fine for any work. However, don't overdo it; we don't want your flaming. If someone flames you, contact any staff-person immediately. Don't flame the flamer back. If you do flame someone, that shall count as one warning.
2. If a staff-person or other member reminds you to stop breaching the rules, DO SO! Don't go on doing it just because it's not the Admin telling you. Not correcting your behavior if anyone besides Admin corrected you won't result in punishment. However, if that person reports you to Admin and Admin has to remind you, then it shall result in one warning.
3. Absolutely NO PLAGIARISM. If we discover you have plagiarized anything without due credit to the author, we shall most likely ban you immediately, especially if you've breached other rules previously. We might give you a second chance if you're a 'Lark Still in the Egg' or higher ranking, or if you've been very rule-abiding until this first offense. However, no matter what, if you plagiarize twice, you shall be banned. By the way, if you want to share a work written by someone who is not you (if your friend wrote it, it's not yours) then post it on the Sharing board under Role Models, as long as you give credit to the author. *Hint--if you don't know, for whatever reason, who wrote a work you want to share, just put Anonymous, obviously.
4. For all fan-fiction and fan-poetry: please always, always, ALWAYS include a disclaimer for your work. If you don't know what a disclaimer is, it basically says that you didn't create the characters, world, whatever, that they belong to the published author. Here is an example taken from my own fan-fiction:
DISCLAIMER: I am making no money off of this, and this site isn’t either. This is purely fan-fiction written by a weird person who has absolutely nothing better to do than write this stuff. I don’t own Harry Potter, Hogwarts, Snape, etc. J.K. Rowling does.
Feel free to steal this basic disclaimer, just change the wording to fit whatever you wrote. If you don't put a disclaimer, we shall have to delete your work so that we can't be sued. Of course we don't want that, so just follow this rule!
5. Don't miscategorize things. If you put, say, a post with a fanfic under one of the Roleplaying boards, that would be miscategorized. If you miscategorize, we shall delete your post. No, we aren't going to move it for you, but we'll PM you where you SHOULD move it.
6. Minimize double-posting, ok? We're pretty lax on this rule, unless you completely go overboard.
7. Going off-topic is ABSOLUTELY OK!!!! We do that so often that it would be pointless to ban people for it...otherwise, we would need to ban ourselves six thousand times over.
8. Please no gigantic signatures. That's not fair to everyone else. We won't give you a warning the first time we remind you to make it smaller, but any time you don't change your signature a week after any staff member reminded you (unless you haven't been online, in which case you are exempt) then it shall be considered a warning.
9. Don't delete your account. Then every post you've made shows that it was made by a 'Guest'. Obviously, we can't punish you if you delete your account, but if you have any amount of common courtesy in your heart at all, then don't.
10. If you change your name, please make an Announcement under the General category.
11. No writing with any graphic scenes. Please. We don't need to visualize stuff of that kind. Please note that the maximum fiction rating on this website is M...not MA. No writing beyond an 'M' fiction rating is to be posted at any time in any section. An 'M' rating for fiction is the rough equivalent of an 'R' rating for films. For more information, see www.fictionratings.com/guide.php
Remember, you get 3 tries to be a good little lark. That means you can break the rules three times and get three warnings before we ban you. Remember also: Good behavior may be unexpectedly rewarded...
Have a good time here on this forum, and remember to not ruin anyone else's experiences.
Note: We, the admin, reserve the right to ban any member who abuses this forum. This is our forum, and if you misuse it, we won't hesitate to take out our wrath on you.
Thanks for reading.
