Ok, so you want to enter this contest. Here are a few guidelines for you to follow. We'll be pretty nice about bending the rules here or there, since we probably won't get many submissions, but still, try and keep within the borderlines.
If you break too many rules, we'll let you know that your submission is disqualified, but we'll give you a second chance to submit it if you change what we ask you, as long as you resubmit it before the contest due date. Or, you can just fix it and enter it in the next month's contest. Either is fine.
...................................
1. No more than 500-2000 words in your story or 200-1000 in your poem. If you go over by one to ten words, it won't matter, but please keep your entries to a minimum. Remember, an author who conveys what he/she wants to say in just a few well-chosen words is very talented indeed.
2. Please specify whether your submitted work follows the challenge presented in the contest, or if it is a random submission.
3. No plagarism. This goes without saying.
4. Only registered members may enter the contest. No exceptions.
5. The word of the judges (all staff members) is final.
6. Spelling and grammar is important, but if there is a reason in your writing for poor typing, we'll let it slip. AKA, if it includes a letter by a three-year-old or something...
---Angelina dropped her pencil with a sigh, examining what she had written:
deer mudder
pleez come home or dadys going to kill me
love
angelina---
...That's ok.
7. Prizes may vary from contest to contest. Sorry, but that's how life goes, folks.
8. The judges shall not be biased by the fact that they know an author in real life or not. This forum shall remain fair.
9. Nothing that's not in English, please! If you want to submit something not in English, translate it first.
10. No late acceptances except in extreme situations.
11. Only one story OR poem shall win the contest. We shall, however, have subdivisions of Best Story, Best Poem, Second-Place Story, and Second-Place Poem. However, the sub-divisions shall not recieve any prize. Sorry.
...Yah, that's it.
